WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS PROGRAM?

The International Law Institute offers a Bachelor’s program in Jurisprudence (International Business Law profile). The program is designed to train highly qualified specialists equipped with the competencies required for the legal support of foreign economic activity (FEA), management of cross-border commercial transactions, and protection of Russian business interests in foreign jurisdictions.

The educational program is delivered entirely in English, including the writing of term papers. The training is distinguished by an immersive English-language environment and a curriculum densely focused on Private International Law disciplines.

Students also have the opportunity to earn an additional diploma as a «Translator in the Sphere of Professional Communications» at the Institute of Legal Translation. This vocational training is integrated into the main academic schedule and allows students to choose one or more additional languages (French, German, Spanish, or Chinese).

SPECIALIZED PROGRAM DISCIPLINES

  • Mechanisms of International Dispute Resolution: Mastering international commercial arbitration and mediation procedures, choice of law rules, and litigation tactics in foreign courts;
  • International Justice: An in-depth analysis of key judicial bodies, including the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), and others;
  • International Family Law: The study of legal regulation of private relations with a foreign element. The course focuses on resolving conflict-of-laws issues in cross-border marriages and divorces, as well as the legal aspects of surrogacy and international adoption;
  • International Insurance Contracts: Mastering the rules of Hull and Machinery (H&M) insurance and Protection and Indemnity (P&I) insurance, as well as claims procedures for accidents, collisions, and general average;
  • Intellectual Property in Private International Law: Studying mechanisms for the cross-border protection of IP rights, trademark registration via the Madrid System, and the legal management of licensing and franchise agreements across various jurisdictions.
  • International Monetary Obligations: Analysis of the legal regulation of international settlement and credit operations, currency control issues, the legal status of international reserve assets, syndicated lending specifics, and the operation of interbank communication systems under sanctions restrictions.
  • International Sports Law: Studying the specialized regulatory system (Lex Sportiva), including the legal status of the IOC and international sports federations, transfer regulations, sponsorship contracts, anti-doping control, and dispute resolution at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.
  • Structuring of International Holdings: An applied course on designing the architecture of corporate groups, methods for selecting jurisdictions for parent companies, mechanisms for asset ownership through trusts and foundations, as well as business protection tools against hostile takeovers and legal compliance.
  • Legal Business Support in the Countries of Global South: Examining the specifics of local corporate legislation and methods for the legal adaptation of Russian businesses to the regional business traditions of China, India, the UAE, and ASEAN countries.
  • Fundamentals of English Contract Law: A study of the core institutions of English law (consideration, misrepresentation, breach of contract), which remains dominant in major international transactions; the application of standard clauses and the logic of the Anglo-Saxon legal system in transaction structuring.
  • Corporate Law of Integration: Processes of harmonizing corporate legislation, cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A) within integration unions, and the creation of supranational organizational and legal forms.
  • Integration Competition Law: A study of competition rules in supranational markets, focusing on the powers of regulatory bodies, control over economic concentration, and the prevention of cartels and the abuse of dominant positions within integration blocs.
